Brooke has been working in the field of behavioral health and substance abuse for over 20 years. She was raised on a farm in western South Dakota and grew up participating in rodeo’s, 4-H, FFA, and FHA.
While living in South Dakota, Brooke worked at Behavior Management Systems in Rapid City, SD, where she was the Clinical Supervisor for the IMPACT West Program in Rapid City, SD, working with the Severely and Persistently Mentally Ill (SPMI) population. Brooke also worked for the Sturgis Regional Hospital and in the Long-Term Skilled Nursing Unit as the Social Worker and a member of the interdisciplinary care team. Her experience also includes working for the South Dakota Department of Human Services as a Mental Health and Substance Abuse therapist in a maximum-security prison on the Acute Intensity Mental Health Units (Infirmary, Administrative Segregation, Death Row and Disciplinary). Brooke has experience working with a diversity of different populations in varying capacities including, but not limited to, US Federal Probation; residential treatment for teenage boys and girls; adult alcohol, drug and gambling treatment; meth alternative sentencing program; residential domestic violence shelters for women and working with men who batter; halfway transitional housing; GLBT community; the homeless and SPMI residing in the community and in correctional settings. Brooke was one of the founding board members for a movement to reduce stigmatization on Substance Abuse by serving on the board for Face It TOGETHER and has had a passion of bridging a community supporting recovery to aid in building a successful and meaningful community for all.
In 2014, Brooke moved to Southern Colorado to help develop the Substance Abuse Program, Domestic Violence Program and Criminal Justice Programs at a local behavioral health community center. Brooke worked at Haven Behavioral War Heroes Hospital with active and retired military members, experiencing PTSD, Military Sexual Trauma, and/or Substance Use Disorders from their deployments. Currently she owns her own private practice and consulting business for the last 7 years.
